Women's Tennis falls in Sun Belt opener at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team played in its first Sun Belt Conference match since 2019 on Wednesday. The Trojans traveled to Mobile, Ala. where they fell to South Alabama by a score of 2-5. Troy moved to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The doubles point went to the Jaguars on Wednesday but not without a fight from Troy who nearly completed the upset on both courts one and three as the narrowly fell by scores of 6-4.
South Alabama extended its lead to 3-0 after earned wins on courts one and two. Troy began to mount a comeback after earning back-to-back wins on courts three and four. Shevita Aulana earned the win on court three with a straight sets win while Michelle Ncube earn Troy's second point with two set win on court four. South Alabama clinched the on five to earn its eighth straight win in the series.
Troy will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday when they travel to North Alabama and Chattanooga. Saturday's match at North Alabama is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. while Sunday's match is still to be announced.
