BOONE, N.C. -- The Troy Trojans women's soccer program fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers 1-0, Friday afternoon at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

The difference in the match was an 87th-minute corner kick from App State's Tess Cairney (2-3, 2-1-0 Sun Belt Conference) that deflected off a Troy (0-2-0, 0-2-0 Sun Belt Conference) defender and past Troy freshman Lindsey LaRoche.

For the match, the Trojans were outshot 10-7. In defeat, LaRoche recorded three saves.

The Trojan's best chance to put the ball in the back of the net came in the 40^th minute when Trojan midfielder Alisa Detlefsen's shot was saved by Kerry Eagleston of App State. For the match, Detlefsen had two of the Trojans seven shots.

Troy returns to action Sunday afternoon at Coastal Carolina. Kick-off from Conway is scheduled for 12 p.m. Central.

NOTEABLES:
• The Trojans were shutout for the first time in 14 matches (Sept. 8, at Auburn)
• Troy lost in Boone for the first time since 2014 (Oct. 10).
• The Trojans fall to 1-2-1 all-time in Boone
• Troy will look to register the program's first victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
• Sophomore Julianne Hester recorded her first shot of the season. It was her first shot since ULM last Sep. 29.
