Troy Softball Opens Conference Play at UT Arlington

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team is set to open conference play on the road against UT Arlington in a three-game series starting Friday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field. Game times are set for 5 p.m., 1 p.m., and 12 p.m., respectively.

The Trojans (14-4) are coming off of a successful weekend in the Black and Garnet Challenge highlighted by a win over No. 16 South Carolina. The Trojans' also posted a pair of shutouts over Charlotte with their lone loss coming to the Gamecocks in a walk-off.

Leanna Johnson (8-2) earned Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing two shutouts and picking up a save against No. 16 South Carolina. Johnson fanned 21 batters pinning opposing teams to a .120 batting average over 14.2 innings of work.

At the plate, Katie Webb leads the Trojans batting a .373 clip with 19 hits, a pair of doubles and six RBI.

Scouting the Mavericks:
UT Arlington (9-12) is coming off of its most notable win of the season after downing No. 21 Baylor on Tuesday.

Madison Miller leads the team offensively batting .365 with four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI. The Mavericks' Kenedy Hines and Allie Gardiner split most of the time in the circle. The two combines for five wins and 39 strikeouts over 74.2 innings of work.
