Troy Downs Florida A&M in Midweek Tilt

TROY, Ala. – The Trojans turned in their fifth double-digit hit game of the season to down Florida A&M, 8-3, Tuesday at the Troy Softball Complex.

Troy's (16-6) offense sparked for ten hits and eight runs led by Grace Mirly going 2-for-2 with a walk in her first start of the season.

Kelly Horne doubled down the third base line to score Candela Figueroa and put the Trojans on the board first in the bottom of the first inning.

Florida A&M (3-17) answered in the top of the second inning off a single by Kaylin Rhone.
Â
Meagan Patterson blasted her third long ball of the season to even the score in the bottom half of the inning.

After a scoreless third inning, the Lady Rattlers took their first lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning scoring a pair of runs off hits by Natasha Fox and Rhone, but Troy answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead once and for all.

Leanna Johnson (10-3) sat down nine consecutive batters over 3.1 innings of work in route to earning her 10th win of the season.

Nadia Zenteno (1-6) suffered the loss for Florida A&M allowing four runs, five hits and a walk.
