Johnson Tosses One-Hitter to Push Troy Past North Florida

TROY, Ala- Leanna Johnson tossed a one-hit shutout to power the Trojans past North Florida in the Trojan Classic finale Sunday at the Troy Softball Complex.

Johnson (2-1) earns her second shutout victory of the season fanning six batters and giving up just one hit in seven innings of work.

Troy (3-1) struck first in the bottom of the second inning. Kelly Horne led off with a single and came around to score following a walk and a fielder's choice.

The Trojans added two runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with a pair of doubles by Logan Calhoun and Katie Lively and a single by Kaylee Chapman.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Johnson found herself in a bases loaded jam after giving up three walks but forced a groundout to remain unscathed.

Morgan Clausen (1-1) suffered the loss for North Florida (2-2) giving up three runs off four hits and a walk.
