Troy Softball to Host Troy Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team is set to host the 2020 Troy Invitational where they will play host to Southern Miss, Southeast Missouri State, Kennesaw State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Eastern Illinois this weekend at the Troy Softball Complex.

The Trojans (3-1) begin play on Friday at 3 p.m. against Kennesaw State followed by a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Purdue Fort Wayne. Admission is free for all games.

Leanna Johnson (2-1) started her sophomore campaign off in style pitching two shutout victories including a one-hitter over North Florida and turning in two double-digit strikeout games.

After opening weekend, Troy's pitching staff ranks sixth nationally with a 0.48 ERA while Johnson ranks first nationally in shutouts (2) and sixth in strikeouts (31).

Logan Calhoun leads the Trojans offensively batting .400 with four hits, two runs scored and a double.

Southern Miss (4-1) comes into the Troy Invitational after toppling Southern in a midweek matchup, 9-0. The Golden Eagles opened the season hosting the Black and Gold Invitational where they suffered their only loss to Saint Louis.
Southeast Missouri State opens its season in the Troy Invitational having not played in the opening weekend.
Kennesaw State (4-0) checks in as the only undefeated team in the Troy Invitational after downing Jacksonville State and Purdue Fort Wayne in the Phyllis Rafter Memorial tournament.
Purdue Fort Wayne (0-3) heads into the Troy Invitational still looking for its first win of the season after falling to Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State in the Phyllis Rafter Memorial tournament.
Eastern Illinois (4-1) enters the Troy Invitational after participating in the Samford Tournament last weekend. The Panther's only loss came to the Samford Bulldogs, the host team.
