Men's Tennis Completes Perfect Weekend with Win Over Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team completed its perfect weekend on Saturday with its 4-0 victory over Southern Miss. The win gives the Trojans three victories in three days and extends its season long winning streak to five matches.
In what became a theme for the weekend, the Troy Trojans once again won the doubles point and took an early advantage into singles action. The Trojans picked up the doubles point with wins on courts one and two as Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton earned a 6-2 decision on court two followed by Christopher Tasker and Andy Romero, who made their first starts on court one, earning a 6-2 victory on court two.
With the two teams playing to clinch, Troy only needed to win three singles matches to walk away victorious. The first victory in singles came from Javier Llinares who picked up right where he left off yesterday with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Oskar Michalek continued his strong play on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win, his third singles victory of the weekend. Troy clinched the match on court two with Carles Anton earning a 6-1, 6-4 decision to give the Trojans the fourth and final point they needed to earn their 10th win of the season.
