TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball's Alexus Dye was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after posting back-to-back double-doubles and setting new career-highs in both points and rebounds.
Dye earned her first career player of the week honor after averaging 19.5 points and 18 rebounds per game in Troy's two wins over the weekend. Dye also finished the weekend shooting 64 percent from the field with three blocked shots and an assist and a steal.
Dye started the weekend off by scoring 16-points and grabbing 17 rebounds against Little Rock on Thursday before posting career-highs in points (23) and rebounds (19) in the Trojans final home game of the season against Arkansas State on Saturday.
After averaging just 7.5 points and 8.4 rebounds in the first 16 games of the season, Dye has been on a tear in the last 10 games averaging 14.5 points, second on the team during that stretch, and a team-high 10.9 rebounds per game. In the last 10 games she has recorded six of her eight double-doubles while grabbing at least 15 boards in three games.
Dye currently ranks 17th in the Sun Belt in scoring (11.9 ppg) and second in rebounds (10.1 rpg). In conference play she is shooting the ball at a 50 percent clip, the eighth best shooting percentage in the conference. Her 4.3 offensive boards per contest is the second-best mark in conference play while 5.8 defensive boards per game ranks fifth in the league.
Dye becomes just the second Trojan since the 2017-18 season to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, joining Kayla Robinson who had been the only other Trojan to earn a weekly honor after earning the last five player of the week honors for Troy, including the only other honor this season back in Dec. 23.
Troy, 22-4 overall and 13-2 in the Sun Belt, is currently tied for first-place in the conference standings with Coastal Carolina. Troy has three games remaining, all on the road, in its quest for the second regular season title in program history. The Trojans will be at South Alabama on Saturday before closing out the regular season with Little Rock and Arkansas State the following weekend.
