Men's Tennis To Compete in HEB Invitational in Texas

TROY, Ala. – After hosting its first two home matches of the season last weekend, the Troy men's tennis team is back on the road for three matches in Corpus Christi, Texas. Troy will take on New Mexico State at 10 a.m. on Friday followed by a match at 5 p.m. against DePaul. They will close out the HEB Invitational at 10 a.m. on Saturday against UT Rio Grande Valley.
Troy enters the weekend with a 5-3 record, highlighted by a three-match winning streak. During the Trojans three wins they have defeated their opponents by a combined score of 19-2. In all five wins this season Troy is yet to lose more than one point in a dual.
Freshman Carles Anton continues his impressive campaign as he remains perfect in both singles and doubles matches. He enters the weekend with an 8-0 record in singles and an 8-0 record in doubles. Senior Oskar Michalek also starting off his final year with Troy in memorable fashion. Through the first month of the season Michalek has earned a 7-1 singles record, including five straight wins. The Trojans remain strong on courts 1-3, posting a combined 20-4 record on those courts.
A Look at New Mexico State
• New Mexico State enters the weekend with a 4-3 record, including a 3-1 mark in neutral site matches
• They enter on a one-match winning streak after defeating UT Permian Basin 4-0 last weekend
• Their roster is made up of two seniors, a junior and a sophomore and four freshmen
A Look at DePaul
• DePaul enters the weekend with a 3-7 record, including a 1-1 mark in neutral site contests
• DePaul has lost two straight matches after falling Wichita State and Drake in Des Moines, Iowa last weekend
• Christopher Casati enters the Lone Star State with a 13-8 overall singles record, 5-4 in the dual-match season. Boris Spanjaard leads the Blue Demons with a dual mark of 7-3 playing primarily at No. 2 singles
A Look at UTRGV
• UTRGV enters the weekend with a 1-4 overall record but on a one match winning streak after defeating Laredo Community College last weekend
• All five of their matches to date have been played in the state of Texas
• No individual player has more than one dual singles win this season. They have earned one win at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles and two wins at No. 5 singles
