Men's Tennis Extends Winning Streak With Two Wins on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with back-to-back wins on Saturday against Florida A&M and North Alabama. The Trojans defeated both schools by a score of 6-1 and improved its overall record to 5-3 on the year.
Match 1 vs FAMU
For the second consecutive match the Trojans won the all-important doubles-point with the help of a forfeit by their opponent due to not fielding a full lineup. The forfeit wouldn't have come into play had Florida A&M had a full lineup as Troy was locked in from the start. Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton earned a dominate 6-2 victory to secure the point while Christopher Tasker and Oskar Michalek were nearing a conclusion of their match before play was stop with the doubles point already won.
In singles action the Trojans got another dominate performance from Anton who won his fifth straight-sets match and first by a score of 6-0, 6-0. With the momentum in hand Troy picked up wins from Michalek on court two followed by the match clincher on court four from Javier Llinares. Both matches were won in straight-sets. Following a loss on court one Troy closed out the morning strong with a 6-3, 6-4 win from Tasker on court five.

Match 2 vs North Alabama
The Trojans picked up right where they left off from their morning match with another decisive victory at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. Troy got things started against North Alabama with dominating doubles performance from their top two pairs. Michalek and Tasker teamed up for just the third time this season and earned a quick 6-1 victory on court one. Troy secured the doubles point on court two with a 6-2 win by Antuna and Anton.
In singles play Anton got things started with his second-straight 6-0, 6-0 victory of the day. Llinares followed Anton with an easy victory of his own in straight sets. The Trojans clinched the match on court five as Tasker picked up his fourth victory on the young season. Troy extended its advantage in the contest with wins on courts one and two to close out the day with their second win of the afternoon.
