Notes: Women's Basketball Closes Out Road Trip Saturday at App State

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball team will be back on the hardwood Saturday, Feb. 15 at Appalachian State. The Trojans and Mountaineers will be meeting for the second time this season with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT).

The Trojans will look to rebound on Saturday at App State after falling to Coastal Carolina on Thursday 103-124. Troy was led offensively by Japonica James who scored 21-points. Alexus Dye continued her impressive season with another double-double, her sixth of the season. In the contest Thursday Dye scored 15-points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Troy played a solid game against Coastal shooting 39 percent from the field and 30 percent from three. With the loss Troy and Coastal are tied for first-place in the Sun Belt and went 1-1 against each other in the regular season.

App State enters Saturday playing some of its best basketball of the season, winning four of their last five games including Thursday over South Alabama (71-59). At home this season App State is 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference games. In home games they are averaging 66.6 points per game while allowing 66.7. App State's leading scorer, Pre Stanely, is also averaging 18.7 ppg at home, almost 4 points more than her season average. When playing at home App State does a good job getting to the free throw line. In their nine home games they have attempted 184 free throws compared to just 115 for their opponents. The Mountaineers have won three straight home games. Their last home loss was to Coastal Carolina back on Jan. 18 (53-80).
