Sun Belt Announces Revised 18-Game Women's Basketball Conference Schedule

TROY, Ala. – The Sun Belt Conference announced a newly revised 18-game women's basketball conference schedule for the 2020-21 season on Thursday.

The Sun Belt Women's Basketball season will now feature an 18-game, all division schedule. Teams will play four members of their division four times each with games being played on Friday's and Saturday's. Rivalry games will be played just twice in a home-and-home format, on a Thursday and Saturday of the same week.

Troy's East Division will include App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Georgia Southern and rival, South Alabama. The West will feature Arkansas State, Little Rock, Louisiana, ULM, UTA and Texas State. This will be the first time since the 2012-13 season that the Sun Belt basketball standings will be split into two divisions.

Troy, the defending Sun Belt Champions, will open its conference slate at home on Jan. 1-2 against App State. Following a road trip to Georgia State on Jan. 8-9, Troy will be back at home Jan. 15-16 vs Georgia Southern and Jan. 22-23 against Coastal Carolina. Troy's only back-to-back road trip weekends will be at App State (Jan. 29-30) and Georgia Southern (Feb. 5-6).

Troy and South Alabama's rivalry will be renewed on Feb. 11 inside Trojan Arena and then again on Saturday, Feb. 13 in Mobile. The Trojans will close out their home schedule Feb. 19-20 against Georgia State followed by one last road trip to Coastal Carolina Feb. 26-27.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Sun Belt Tournament will be played March 5-8 in Pensacola, Fla. The first two rounds will be split between Pensacola State College and the Bay Center Arena with the semifinals and finals being held at the Bay Center Arena. All 12 teams will make the tournament with the top two seeds from each division earning first round byes. First round games will feature an East team vs a West team.

This newly revised schedule comes following the announcement of a 16-game conference schedule back on Oct. 1 where teams would have played all conference opponents at least once.

Troy finished the 2019-20 season with a program-best 25-4 overall mark and won its first-ever Sun Belt Regular Season crown with a 16-2 conference record. Last season's championship was the program's third title in the last five seasons.

A full schedule that includes non-conference games will be released as a later date.
