Notes: Women's Basketball Heads to ULM for Midweek Match-up

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball is on the road for the first time in Sun Belt play as the Trojans will travel to Monroe, La. to take on the ULM Warhawks on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. The game will be played at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Trojans extended their winning streak to eight after defeating App State 84-55 on Saturday to close out the first weekend of conferenced play. The first half against the Mountaineers was anybody's game as neither team was able to build any momentum and pull away. That all changed for Troy in the third quarter as they outscored App State 31-11 to blow the game open. With a win on Wednesday at ULM Troy will set a new standard for consecutive wins under head coach Chanda Rigby with nine. Coach Rigby has guided four teams to winning streaks of eight games.

Louisiana-Monroe enters Wednesday's contest having lost eight of their last nine games, including both Sun Belt Conference games last weekend to Georgia Southern (47-64) and Georgia State (52-68). The second-quarter has been a struggle for ULM this season as they have been outscored 204-136 in that quarter alone. Wednesday's home game for ULM will be one of just two home games for the Warhawks in the month of January. ULM has scored less than 50 points four times this season while reaching at least 70 just once. ULM head coach Brooks Donald Williams is in her first season has the head coach at ULM. She arrived at ULM following a year at Alabama as an assistant coach and nine seasons as the head coach at McNeese State. Senior guard Amber Thompson has continued to emerge as a top scoring threat. Thompson picked up her third straight double-figure game on Saturday at Georgia State, scoring 13 points
