MONROE, La. – With all eyes on Troy Women's basketball Wednesday night, the Trojans went on the road for the first time in Sun Belt play and earned a hard fought 72-65 victory over ULM, improving to 12-2 on the year and 3-0 in Sun Belt play.
With the win, Troy won its ninth straight game and set a new program record for consecutive wins at the Division 1 one level. The longest winning streak in program history is 15 back in 1992-93, their final season as a Division II Independent. Dating back to last season Troy has won five consecutive Sun Belt Conference games, the program record for consecutive SBC wins is eight, set back in 2014-15.
For the game Troy shot 32 percent on 23-of-71 shooting while ULM shot 43 percent on 24-of-55 shooting. The Trojans won the rebounding battle (46-37) for the ninth straight game and the 13th time this season. Troy shot at least 70 percent from the free throw line for the ninth time this season, going 24-for-34 while ULM went 10-for-17 from the line, and falling by seven points.
For the third consecutive game, and fourth time this season, Jasmine Robinson led the Trojans in scoring with 13-points, six of them coming from the charity stripe. The junior added two assists, a board and a steal in 23 minutes of action. Amber Rivers was the only other Trojan to reach double-digit points on Wednesday, scoring 12 on 4-of-8 shooting with two rebounds. Kate Rodgers added eight points while grabbing a team-high eight boards as well.
For just the fifth time this season the Trojans found themselves behind at the half, 35-36, after outscoring ULM 23-19 in the first before being outscored 17-12 in the second.
Troy has had a knack for coming out of the locker room and posting strong third-quarters after slow first halves and at the start of the third it looked like they were on their way to doing it again. The Trojans scored the first 10 points of the quarter while hold ULM scoreless for the first five minutes of the third. In the final five minutes of the quarter though, Troy scored just four points while ULM scored six.
In the fourth Troy had to hold off a hot shooting Whitney Goins who drilled four triples in the quarter, five for the game, as she scored a career-high 19 points. Her previous high was 14 set a season ago. The Trojans were able to put the game away from the free throw line, scoring their final eight points from the charity line and allowing just four points in the final two minutes of the contest.

On the close game against ULM
"It was a tough game on the road today that's for sure. I don't [the score] is what a lot of expected because we had been playing so well of late. but hats off to [ULM], Brooks Donald Williams is in her first year here and she's doing a great job and her team would not quite. I am so proud of my team though for getting this win because this was one of those situations that a lot of teams might have quit or given up because nothing would really go our way, but we didn't. We hung in there and got the win."
