Men's Tennis Earns Shutout Victory over Tennessee State

NASHVILLE – The Troy men's tennis team closed out their busy weekend in Nashville with an impressive 7-0 victory over Tennessee State. The Trojans earned their first shutout of the season and first since March 13 of last year.

Troy, coming off a close defeat on Saturday, was primed to get back into the win column on Sunday. Teh Trojans got things started in doubles by overpowering the Tiger pairs as Oskar Michalek and Andy Romero teamed up for quick 6-2 win followed by a 6-1 victory from the duo of Javier Llinares and Christopher Tasker to win the doubles point.

In singles action the Trojans were once again overpowering at the top of the lineup. Troy's second point of the afternoon came from court one as Antuna earned his second victory of the season with a straight sets victory. After a win via retirement on court four for Manuel, Troy got the match clinching point Michalek with his straight sets win. The senior has clinched both Troy wins this season. With the match in hand Troy didn't let up as Anton earned the dominated victory on court two for his fourth straight win of the season. On courts five and six Llinares and Tasker both came away victorious to each earn their second wins on the year and close out a perfect afternoon for Troy Tennis.
