Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will begin a string of four straight home games this Thursday when they welcome the Texas State Bobcats to Trojan Arena. Tip-off between the Trojans and Bobcats is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.
Â
Troy Trojans (14-3, 5-1 SBC)
PPG: 79.4 | REB: 54.8 | FG%: .359 | 3FG%: .274 | FT%: .686
The Trojans found success in Georgia last weekend, notching wins against Georgia Southern and Georgia State. The win against the Eagles was Troy's 15th straight win over Georgia Southern while the win over the Panthers snapped a three-game skid to Georgia State. Last weekend's victories brought their conference record to 5-1 for the fifth time in six seasons. The Trojans enter Thursday's game against Texas State with a lot on the line as this will be the only time Troy will face off against both Texas schools. With a win against Texas State on Thursday, Saturday's contest vs UT-Arlington will feature two of the three teams tied atop the Sun Belt standings and put the winner in the driver's seat as we head into the heart of the conference season.
Â
Texas State (7-10, 0-6 SBC)
PPG: 62.2 | REB: 35.8 | FG%: .386 | 3FG%: .289 | FT%: .669
Texas State enters Thursdays match-up without a conference win. This is the first time they have started the conference season 0-6 since joining the Sun Belt. Sophomore guard Kennedy Taylor leads the Sun Belt in assists per game (5.2) and ranks 24th nationally in the latest NCAA report. Although Texas State is 0-6 in conference play, they have had Troy's number of late, winning two of the last three meetings. Texas State's conference record is very misleading though. In five of their six Sun Belt loses they have had the lead at halftime while enjoying a 10+ point lead in two of those games. Part of the Bobcats' late game struggles has been the point differential between the two halves. Their defense has been stout in the first half of league games allowing an average of 23.1 points in the first 20 minutes but in the second half they have allowed 45.7 points.
