Women's Tennis Opens Play Against Mississippi State in Birmingham

TROY, Ala. - The Troy women's tennis team will begin their spring season on Friday as they will travel to Birmingham for a neutral court match against the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start and will be the second all-time meeting between the schools, as they last met in 2011 where Mississippi State escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Trojans.
A Look at the Trojans
• Last year, the Trojans finished the season 10-11, with a 4-5 record in Sun Belt play. The Trojans return sophomore Chunxi Guo, junior Pei Ju Hsieh, and junior Matea Mihaljevic
• They will also look to Shevita Aulana, Tijana Svitlica, Anastasiia Khrustaleva, and Anastasiia Khoklova to make an impact early in the season
• In the fall, the Trojans posted a 33-27 singles' record and were led by Chunxi Guo, Tijana Svitlica, and Pei Ju Hsieh who each had 7 wins in tournament play
• In doubles play, the Trojans posted a 13-12 record in tournament play and were led by Chunxi Guo and Pei Ju Hsieh, who posted a 4-1 record as partners. They also saw production from Tijana Svitlica and Anastasiia Khoklova who posted a 3-0 as partners
A Look at the Bulldogs
• Last season, Mississippi State finished the season 14-13, with a 4-9 record in SEC play
• The Bulldogs will look to sophomore Emma Antonaki and junior Magda Adaloglou, as they both led the Bulldogs through the fall tournament season
