TROY, Ala. – The Troy Trojans will make the short trip to SEC opponent Auburn Sunday evening for a 6 p.m. contest.
The match, which will be aired live on SEC Network+, is the first true road game the Trojans have played this season. Last weekend the Trojans played a pair of neutral site games at South Alabama against Stetson (3-2, victory) and UAB (1-1, draw).
Off to the program's best start since 2008, the Trojans are unbeaten through five matches (3-0-2). Thursday evening the Trojans extended the streak, with a gutsy 2-1 victory over in-state rival Jacksonville State.
In the victory, Troy received a goal each from Nilou Asdigha and Grace Mirly. Goalkeeper Haleigh Mercer continued her strong start, recording four saves in the victory.
So far this season, 11 different Trojans have recorded a point and seven different players have scored a goal. After scoring just 18 times last season, Troy has already scored 13 goals this season.

TIGER WATCH:
The Auburn Tigers enter Sunday's matchup with a record of 2-2 overall, having most recently defeated Syracuse on Thursday 2-0. The Tigers, much like the Trojans, have been extremely stingy this season, as the SEC school has allowed only five goals all season. Named to the 2019 Hermann Trophy Award Watch List and to the Top-Drawer Soccer Best XI Third Team, midfielder Bri Folds was named a 2018 All-American and is the biggest offensive threat for the Tigers. In the preseason SEC media poll, the Tigers were projected to finish seventh overall.
BALANCED EFFORT:
So far this season, seven different Trojans have recorded a goal and 11 different players have recorded a point. Senior Kiersten Edlund leads the way for Troy, having tallied three goals and two assists. The Trojans are outscoring opponents 13-4 thus far, and in the second half of matches, the Trojans are outscoring opponents 7-1.
MERCER ME:
Senior Haleigh Mercer has earned the starting job for Troy this season. The Floridian has made 22 saves so far. Her .76 goals-against-average is the third best mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The goalies .879 save percentage is the second-best percentage in the conference.
GED TALKS:
"Auburn is a very good team. Historically speaking they've always been good. The coaching staff as a whole is second-to-none. Our real focus is what we need to do individually to prepare ourselves. It's about us and we need to focus on us. If we give our best effort, we hope the scoreboard can reflect that. It all comes down to what we do, not what the other team does. We're more concerned about how we're going to play and the work we put in. I think keeping the focus on us is the vital thing."
