Women's Tennis Posts Strong Second Day at Mercer Gridiron Classic

Singles/Doubles Draws
MACON, Ga.- The Trojans completed day two of the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga., including strong performances in singles play by freshman Tijana Svitlica and sophomore Chunxi Guo.
In doubles play, freshman Tijana Svitlica and Anastasiia Khokhlova lost in the first round of Flight A to Magda Stepnik and Mathilda Vidgren of Florida Southern 6-2. The pair is scheduled to play in the quarterfinals of Flight A doubles consolation against Peyton Lee and Erin Allen of Belmont University.
In singles action, sophomore Chunxi Guo advanced to the quarterfinals of Flight A by defeating Drew Hawkins of Belmont 6-3, 6-3, in the first round of Flight A singles play, then defeating Minnie Kim of Florida Southern 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, in the second round of Flight A singles play before falling to Lucia Montano of North Florida 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinal round.
Freshman Tijana Svitlica advanced into the quarterfinals of Flight B Consolation singles play by defeating Emory Ann Phillips of Kennesaw State 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (5) in the first round before advancing past Nikki Christiansen of Belmont 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals of Flight B Consolation singles play.
Svitlica is scheduled to play in the semifinals of Flight B Consolation singles play against Lauren Carelli of Belmont University tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. (ET) once the final day of the tournament resumes.
