Troy, Ala. – Troy has signed Tahj Small to a National Letter of Intent to join the men's basketball program for the 2019-20 season as announced by head coach Scott Cross on Wednesday morning.Â
Â
Small makes his way to Troy coming from Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Mo.Â
Â
"The future of Troy basketball just got brighter with the signing of Tahj Small," Cross said. "Tahj is a very efficient basketball player who will help our perimeter shooting and rebounding. Tahj will also help our versatility because he can play multiple positions because due to his length and skill level. Tahj knows how to win since he has played for two winning programs over the past two years."
Â
Native of Durham, N.C., the 6-foot-5 guard averaged the third-highest scoring output on the team at 14.3 points per game on 45.2 percent shooting from the field. Small is a deep threat as well as he shot 40.6 percent from behind the arc on a team-high 93 three-pointers made.Â
Â
Small started in 33 of 35 games played and scored more than 21 points six times including two 30-point games. In an 88-55 win over State Fair Community College on Jan. 16, Small dropped 30 points on 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from the field, knocking down seven threes alongside six rebounds and two steals.Â
Â
Small is the third player to join Troy men's basketball this week as junior college transfers Khalyl Waters and Jitarious Gordon joined on Monday.
