Khalyl Waters Highlights | Jitarious Gordon Highlights
Â
Troy, Ala. – Troy men's basketball has signed junior college transfers Khalyl Waters and Jitarious Gordon to National Letters of Intent for the 2019-20 season as announced by head coach Scott Cross on Monday.Â
Â
Waters comes from Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Ga., and Gordon makes his way to Troy from Northwest Mississippi Community College out of Senatobia, Miss.
Â
Waters, a 6-foot-6 wing, is a proven scorer as he averaged 18.3 points per game, second-most on the team and third in conference while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. Additionally, Waters posted a 38.4-percent clip from behind the arc and grabbed 7.6 rebounds and dished 2.1 assists per game.Â
Â
After a stellar 2018-19 season, Waters was named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) First Team in addition to earning a spot on the GCAA All-Defensive Team and the GCAA All-Tournament Team.Â
Â
"Khalyl is extremely athletic and he can really score the basketball," Cross said. "He is a very versatile player that will be able to play multiple positions for us. Khalyl will be a matchup nightmare for opposing teams with his quickness, athleticism, and ability to shoot and drive. Khalyl should be able to make an immediate impact for our basketball team."
Â
Gordon, a 6-foot-1 high-level scoring guard led the team and conference averaging 20.6 points per contest on 47.5 percent shooting. He poured in 56 threes on the year at a 34.6-percent clip and scored in double figures in all but one game.Â
Â
Gordon's best game of the season came against Northeast Mississippi when he dropped a double double in 25 points and 10 boards alongside five assists and four steals.Â
Â
At the end of the season, Gordon was tabbed All-Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges First Team and secured a spot on the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team.Â
Â
"I am extremely excited about the addition of Jitaurious Gordon to our basketball team," Cross said. "Jitarious is tough and can really badger the ball defensively. He shoots the three-ball extremely well too, so opposing team will have to respect his shot which creates more opportunities for him to get into the paint and finish or dish to teammates. He will be ready to play right away for us and should give us a boost on both ends of the floor."
Â
"Jitarious is a really good point guard that can score," Northwest head coach Shane Oakley said. "He plays hard on both ends of the floor and will be a great addition to the Troy program."
