Troy Signs Standout Guard Emely Rosario

TROY, Alabama –Troy women's basketball head coach Chanda Rigby announced Emely Rosario as the fourth member of the 2019 signing class on Monday.

Rosario, a 5-foot-7 guard from Bronx, New York, is a transfer from Kilgore College (Texas) where she played one season under head coach Addie Lees earning NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors.Â

Rosario averaged 14.5 points in 32.8 minutes per game – both team highs – for a Lady Rangers squad that stood 33rdin the NJCAA averaging 77.2 points per contest. She ranked 19thin the country with 151 assists leading Kilgore to a 22-9 record. Rosario posted a season-best 26 points on 11-of-25 shooting against Panola, she scored 20 or more points in seven of the team's last 14 games.

"Emely is a winner in every aspect of the word," Rigby said. "She has so many great point guard qualities such as the ability to read defenses and her to team set up in the offense. She works as hard in the classroom as she does on the court. We are very proud to have her join the Trojan family."

A product of Marist High School, Rosario originally signed with Eastern Kentucky where she played in 17 games. As a prep star, she was named NJ.com Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic League Player of the Year. Rosario averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as a senior. She recorded double-digit points in 24 of the 25 game she appeared and have 10 games with 20 or more points scoring a career-high 34 against St. Dominic.

Rosario joins a talented group in the Trojans' 2019 signing class entering alongside Tyasia Moore, Alexus Dyeand Tiyah Johnson.
