Troy Heads to Texas State for Key Conference Series

TROY, Alabama – The Trojan softball team travels to Texas State for a pivotal three-game Sun Belt conference series at Bobcat Softball Stadium. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's first pitches are set for 6 p.m., 2 p.m. and 12 p.m.
This series could prove crucial in terms of conference tournament seeding for both squads. Troy (34-16, 16-6 Sun Belt) enters the contest ranked second in league standings while Texas State (25-20, 13-7) jumped ahead of Appalachian State to the third spot.
Katie Webb leads the offensive efforts for Troy batting a .349 with six doubles, three triples, a home run and 28 RBIs. Bailey Taylor leads the team in RBIs with 38 and bats a .324 with seven doubles and five home runs.
Leanna Johnson (23-6) continues to dazzle in the circle pitching her seventh shutout and surpassing the 200 strikeouts mark this past weekend. The freshman comes in with a 2.12 ERA over 181.2 innings of work. Johnson ranks fifth nationally in victories with 23 and 16th nationally in strikeouts with 205.
Scouting the Bobcats
Texas State enters the matchup after sweeping Georgia Southern last weekend. Christiana McDowell leads the Bobcats at the plate batting a .388 with eight doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs. Tara Oltmann is the team's RBI leader with 36 batting a .264 with 10 doubles and three home runs.
Meagan King is the primary workhorse in the circle for Texas State. King comes into the matchup with a 3.05 ERA and 76 strikeouts over 142.1 innings of work.
