Troy Falls in Series Opener to No. 10 Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – A pair of two-run home runs powered Louisiana past Troy in the series opener Friday night at Yvette Girouard Field.

A sacrifice fly by Bailey Curry that scored Kara Gremillion in the top of the first inning put Louisiana (21-3) on the board first.
Â
A two-run home run by Julie Rawls gave the Ragin' Cajuns a three-run advantage, but Troy (18-10) answered in the top of the fourth with a run.

Madeline Porter hit a double to left center to score Taylor Corbett who got on with an infield single to put Troy on the board.
Â
A five-run inning capped off by a two- run home run by Raina O'Neal gave Louisiana a seven-run advantage going into the bottom of the sixth.

A stolen base followed by a throwing error scored the ninth-run that forced the run-rule.

Leanna Johnson (12-4) suffered the loss for Troy after giving up five hits and four walks. Kynsley Rae Blasingame checked into the circle in the fourth inning and only allowed one hit through the end of the game.

Summer Ellyson (15-3) earned the win for Louisiana after recording eight strikeouts and scattering five hits.
