Troy Downed at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – A late run made things interesting, but Troy could not overcome a double digit fourth quarter deficit in a 76-72 loss to Little Rock on Thursday in Jack Stephens Center.
Trailing by 11, 70-59, with 54 seconds remaining in the game, Troy scored six points in 10 seconds to cut the gap to five. After the teams traded layups, Tyra Johnson knocked down a three-pointer to pull Troy within two, 72-70.
It appeared as though Troy would tie the game when Jasmine Robinson stole the ball and was clear on a fast break, but a late foul call stopped play and handed the ball back to Little Rock, that immediately converted four consecutive free throws to ice the game.
Troy (16-5, 7-3 SBC) shot just 36 percent (27-75) for the game and made just 5-of-26 three-point attempts. Jasmine LeBlanc led the way with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Japonica James had 10 point and eight rebounds and Sky'Lynn Holmes contributed seven points and eight boards.
Four Little Rock (13-8, 9-1) players finished in double digits led by Ronjanae DeGray with 19. Terrion Moor finished with 16 and Kyra Collier chipped in with 15.
Troy led for the majority of the first half and by as many as 10 late in the second quarter. The teams traded the lead just three times in the first half, but seven times in the third quarter alone.
