TROY, Ala. -- Four members of the Troy Trojans soccer program earned All-Sun Belt Conference recognition, the conference announced Tuesday.
Sophomore Kate Eubanks was named a first-team All-Sun Belt selection, while Maddie Brune, Kiersten Edlund and Haleigh Mercer were named to the second-team.
Eubanks is the first Trojan to earn first-team all-conference honors since 2015 when Miki Lewis and Alissa Jones were named to the first team. A native of Mobile, Ala., Eubanks has played in 18 matches for the Trojans this season, scoring three goals and tallying a pair of assists. Serving as a center-back, Eubanks has helped anchor a Trojan defense that has allowed just 16 goals in 18 matches.
A key contributor to the Trojan turnaround this season, Brune earned an all-conference recognition for the first time in her career. The midfielder scored three times and set up four other strikes and was one of five Trojans who recorded 10 or more points.
One of the best facilitators in the country, Edlund scored four times and recorded 12 assists (a new Troy record) this season. Her 12 assists are currently tied for the fifth most in the country and lead the Sun Belt.
Coming off the strongest season of her career, Mercer also earned all-conference honors for the first time. The goalie has recorded a goals-against-average of 0.90 this season and has recorded 89 saves, the most in the Sun Belt this season.
Troy finished the regular season 12-2-4 overall and 7-1-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. The seven SBC wins were the most in program history, and the 12 overall victories were the most since 2015. The Trojans outscored opponents 41-16 this season and are riding an eight-match unbeaten streak.
The second-seeded Trojans open the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon against seventh-seeded Louisiana. Kickoff from the Foley Soccer Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
