Notes: Women's Basketball Opens Season at Home on Tuesday

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will open the 2019-20 campaign at home on Tuesday against Fort Valley State with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Trojan Arena.

The Trojans continue to be one of the best scoring teams in the country under head coach Chanda Rigby. The Trojans have led the Sun Belt in scoring in all seven of her seasons at Troy while also finishing in the top 10 nationally in four straight seasons. The scoreboard will be filled once again as Troy returns 72 percent of its scoring from last season.

Fort Valley State Wildcats (0-0)
2018-19 PPG: 56.3 | REB: 39.6 | FG%: 31.6 | 3FG%: 22.2 | FT%: 60.4
The Wildcats enter this season with a new head coach. Andrea Williams took over the program on Oct. 1, 2019. Fort Valley State returns all five leading scorers from last season with all five having started at least 10 games. Alicia Franklin was named a SIAC Preseason First Team honoree after leading her squad in scoring (14.5 ppg) and averaging 4.6 rebounds per game last season. This will be an exhibition game for Fort Valley State.

- Amber Rivers and Kayla Robinson each enter the season on the verge of topping 1000 career points. Rivers currently has 856 career points while Robinson has 899
- Troy was picked second in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Rivers was named preseason second-team all-conference while Japonica James earned third-team honors
- In Coach Rigby's seven seasons at Troy, the Trojans have scored at least 100-points 20 times. In those games, Troy is 19-1
- Since the grand opening of Trojan Arena back in 2012, Troy has posted a record of 67-29
