Troy Stumbles at Georgia State

ATLANTA, Georgia – Georgia State overcame an 18-point, third quarter deficit to knock off Troy, 84-80, in GSU Sports Arena on Saturday.
Walnatia Wright hit a jumper to tie the game with three minutes to play, but Harriet Winchester and Sky'Lynn Holmes dropped a pair of jumpers to put Troy up four with 1:13 left on the clock.
Georgia State went on to score the game's final eight points on layups by four different players.
Led by a 12-2 late third quarter run, the Panthers (9-8, 3-3 SBC) held the Trojans without a basket for 3:35 of the final four minutes of the frame. Troy (14-3, 5-1) turned the ball over 20 times in the game including six crucial giveaways over the final 10 minutes.
Harriet Winchester led the Trojans with 15 points and 11 rebounds on her 21stbirthday. Amber Rivers scored 11 points while Holmes turned it 10 boards.
Georgia State shot 64 percent (20-31) in the second half. Troy struggled knocking down 14-of-40 shots in the final half.

Troy returns home to host ULM on Thursday and Louisiana in Saturday.
