TROY, Ala. – Despite multiple comeback attempts, Troy volleyball fell just short in a four-set loss to Georgia Southern at Trojan Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (6-10, 2-1) came out on fire in the first two sets, jumping out to an 8-1 lead over the Trojans (6-11, 0-4) in both frames. In the opening set, Troy battled all the way back to even things at 19 apiece before eventually winning it 25-21.
Things didn't go quite as planned the second time the Trojans trailed 1-8, as Georgia Southern carried that momentum all the way to a 25-11 win to level the match at 1-1.
Then the turning point of the game came in the third set, as the two squads went back-and-forth with 10 ties and 12 lead changes in a 28-26 set win for the Eagles. Georgia Southern clinched the match in the fourth with a 25-17 win.
Sophomore Cheyenne Hayes once again recorded double-digit kills in the match, marking her 15th straight game with at least 10 kills on her stat line. Hayes also set a new career-high with 25 digs in the match – she had never eclipsed the 20-dig mark before Sunday – to record a double-double. Amara Anderson also posted a double-double for the eighth time in her freshman season.

The Trojans begin a four-game road stretch in conference play at Louisiana and ULM next Friday and Saturday, respectively.
