Kalina Calvillo Receives Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week Nod

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Troy Volleyball's Kalina Calvillo has been named the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The San Antonio native helped lead the Trojans to a pair of wins during the season-opening Troy Invitational this past weekend.
Calvillo has started her 2026 campaign strong. Through three matches, the outside hitter has recorded a team-high 31 kills on .470 (31/0/66) hitting. The third-year standout has posted double-digit kills in all three matches this season and leads the team with 3.44 kills per set.
In both Trojan victories over the weekend, the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week hit over .500, posting a .611 mark (11/0/18) against Mercer and a .526 percentage (10/0/19) against Alabama State.
Calvillo has also notched a team-best eight service aces, including a five-ace outing which tied her career high.
"Kalina had a great weekend, she played aggressive and smart in all of our matches and was consistently working to bring out the best in her teammates as well," head coach Josh Lauer said. "I appreciate the coaches in the Sun Belt recognizing Kalina's consistency and performance. It was well deserved and a fun encouragement to our entire team as we prepare this week."
The selection marks the first career weekly Sun Belt honor for Calvillo. With the nod, Calvillo becomes the sixth Trojan to receive Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors. It also marks the 15th time a Trojan has received this award.
This marks the first time a Trojan has earned a weekly conference honor following opening weekend since Meghan Gilroy was named Sun Belt Player of the Week in 2009.
Calvillo and the Trojans hit the road this week for a matchup with South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. on Sunday, Sept. 6, starting at 1 p.m. CT.
