MOBILE, Alabama – Ole Miss scored three times in the second half to pull away in a 5-2 win over Troy on Thursday in a neutral site game at The Cage.
The Trojans (1-4-0) got on the board first on the team's very first shot of the game in the 15thminute. Senior Natalie Melillo picked up her second assist of the season on a great through ball to Kendra Cashion, who finished to collect her first career goal; it was the first goal Troy had produced against Ole Miss in three meetings.
Ole Miss' Cece Kizer continued to put her name on the score sheet landing her sixth goal in five games in the 21st. After a Troy foul, Grace Johnson sent a long free kick into the box that Kaiser flicked past Troy keeper Acelya Aydogmus.
With 2:30 left on the clock until halftime, Channing Foster converted a penalty to put the Rebels ahead; it was her second goal of the season and the second penalty goal against Troy this season.
Ole Miss (4-1-0) came out firing in the second half scoring just over three minutes into the frame. Mary Kate Smith sent in a cross from the right wing that Madisyn Pezzino fired back across goal to Haleigh Stackpole for the goal giving the Rebels a 3-1 advantage.
Troy closed the gap seven minutes later, however, when sophomore Ally Bayer settled a pass from Cashion and slotted her shot into the left corner for her third career goal.
Kizer and the Rebels put the game away when the senior struck for her second goal of the game and seventh of the year in the 75thminute. Marisa Kutchma added a garbage goal in the 90th.
