TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball's seven-game stretch away from home will start in Statesboro this weekend, as the Trojans face off with Sun Belt opponents Georgia Southern with conference tournament seeding implications on the line.
The Trojans (31-14, 13-8) and Eagles (21-22, 12-8) are separated by just a half-game, locked in a battle with South Alabama for second place in the league's East Division.
Veterans Joey Denison and Matt Sanders continue to pace Troy offensively, combining to lead five of the major statistical categories in the Sun Belt – batting average, hits, runs, doubles and runs batted in.
Redshirt freshman Rigsby Mosley has come on, as of late, with timely and consistent hitting. Mosley recorded two game-winning hits in the Trojans' series victory over UTA last weekend – a grand slam and a walk-off single – and drove in eight runs over the weekend.
The Troy pitching rotation will remain the same in the series, with RHP Andrew Crane, RHP Daren Osby and RHP Levi Thomas. Crane was stellar in last Friday's series opener, throwing seven innings of four-hit work while allowing just two runs – one of those earned.
Georgia Southern enters following a series win on the road at Texas State, and has won six of its last eight games. The Eagles took two of three from the Trojans last season at Riddle-Pace Field.
