Troy Falls At Xavier of Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, La. – With the regular season coming to a close soon, Troy dropped one of the final away matches with a narrow 5-4 loss to Xaiver of Louisiana on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans (10-10) started the day off on a positive note after clinching the doubles point with an 8-1 win by Andy Lau and Amer Bedwan combined with an 8-6 victory by Pelayo Antuna and Jiaqi Duan.
In a match that saw four of the six singles matches go to three sets, Troy suffered multiple close losses. After dropping his first set 4-6, Oskar Michalek rallied to get his sixth singles win this year with a 6-4 win in the second set and a 6-3 win in the third.
Antonio Selma picked up his fifth singles win of the season with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 win playing out of the sixth spot. Pelayo Antuna won his first set 6-4 before falling 4-6 in the second and 6-0 in the third.
Former Trojan Gabriel Niculescu—in his first season at Xavier—handed the Trojans a loss in his first action against Troy as he held on for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Jiaqi Duan.
