Softball Hosts No. 25 Mississippi State for #NoOneFightsAlone

GAME NOTES
TROY, Alabama- Troy softball (28-20, 12-10 SBC) will play its last midweek game as it hosts No. 25 Mississippi State (33-15, 6-12 SEC) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex. The Trojans will debut a new uniform with the slogan #NoOneFightsAlone in support of cancer awareness and Mississippi State player, Alex Wilcox.

The squad returns home after a tough weekend in Arlington, Texas where Troy went 1-2. UTA delivered two walk off wins, but the Trojans were able to fight back to take game three 8-7, avoiding the sweep.

Troy has been impressive on both sides of the ball, ranking 15th nationally and first in the conference with .975 fielding percentage. Offensively, Troy has produced the second highest number of runs scored and RBI in the Sun Belt, with 232 and 238, respectively.

Sophomore Katie Webb continues to pace the Trojans, leading with 57 hits, 14 doubles, and 36 RBI. Juniors Kaylee Hussey and Stephanie Snyder have each blasted six home runs, including one grand slam each.

Mississippi State enters the matchup ranked No. 25, but have lost its last three games, a series sweep to No. 5 Florida. Freshman Mia Davison has been dominant at the plate for the Bulldogs, recording .413 average, 13 doubles, 16 home runs and 41 RBI. In the circle for Mississippi State, senior Holly Ward leads the pitching staff with a 1.41 ERA. She has picked up 12 wins and four saves with 127 strikeouts.

NOTEWORTHY
- Madeline Porter is one of the toughest players to strikeout coming in at 17th in the country and second in the conference. In 180 plate appearances, the junior has only struck out five times.
- Junior pitcher Peyton Glover ranks 11th nationally and first in the Sun Belt with five saves on the year.Â
- Logan Calhoun and Katie Webb have been the dynamic duo at the plate. Calhoun leads the Sun Belt with 44 runs scored. Webb ranks third in the conference with 57 hits, while Calhoun comes in at sixth with 55 hits. Calhoun is also second in the conference with 17 stolen bases. Her three stolen bases in a single game against Appalachian State is a Sun Belt high.
- Troy leads the conference in doubles with 69 and Katie Webb leads the Sun Belt with 14 doubles. She has also fielded 20 double plays this season, ranking her first in the conference.
