Troy's Season Ends In Sun Belt Quarterfinals

PEACHETREE, Ga. – Troy's run in the Sun Belt Tournament and season both came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Trojans fell 4-0 to top-seeded Georgia State in the quarterfinals.
After rallying from 3-0 down to win 4-3 on Friday against Georgia Southern, the Trojans (13-11) would have no such luck again against the Panthers (14-10). Doubles play proved to be foreboding for the Trojans as Pelayo Antuna and Jiaqi Duan fell 6-2 while Oskar Michalek and Mustapha Belcora were defeated 6-1.
Andy Lau's career as a Trojan came to an end with a thud as the senior was defeated 6-3, 6-1 in his final singles match. Fellow senior Mustapha Belcora had the same fate as he was dispatched 6-1, 6-4.
Staring down a 3-0 hole, Michalek put up a fight, but he too was defeated 7-5, 6-4 to seal the shutout win for Georgia State. It marked head coach Scott Kidd's final match as coach of the Trojans as he announced last month that he would step down following the end of the season.
