Women’s Tennis Closes Home Play Against Alabama State

TROY, Alabama – Following a clean sweep of Alabama A&M on Senior Day, the Trojans (5-10) will host their final home match on Tuesday, April 3, against Alabama State (10-6). First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
This will be the final match at the Lunsford Tennis Complex for seniors Efriliya Herlina, Nancy Karaky, Sanae Ohta and Jiayuan Xue. The senior class has compiled over 175 total singles wins in their time at Troy.
Troy defeated the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 7-0 in its last meeting. Freshmen Pei Ju Hsieh and Matea Mihaljevic lead the Trojans in dual match play, both posting 6-6 records. In doubles play, duo Herlina and Xue were undefeated at 8-0 in tournament play and are 7-4 in dual match competition. The pair is also undefeated at 2-0 in Sun Belt matches, defeating UTA and ULM.
Alabama State enters the matchup at 10-6 overall and an undefeated 8-0 in SWAC play. The Hornets have won six of their last seven matches. Lea Krajcovicova leads the team with a 10-12 record, winning eight of her last 10 matches, splitting her time between courts four and five. As a team, the Hornets have posted .633 winning percentage both overall and in dual match play.
Following the midweek home match, the Trojans will hit the road to close out regular season and Sun Belt competition, facing Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State in neutral territory before the Sun Belt Tournament in Peachtree City, Ga.
