Trojans Dominate Against Alabama State

RESULTS
TROY, Alabama- The last women's tennis match at the Lunsford Tennis Complex for the season was a successful one as the Trojans downed in-state opponent Alabama State 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Troy got off to a great start winning two of the three doubles matches to take the first point of the match. Freshmen Pei Ju Hsieh and Maria Casas Blas picked up the first win of the day, a 6-3 victory on court three to even the match at 1-1 as Alabama State took the court-one match. Senior duo Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina battled and eventually came out on top, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point for the Trojans.
The momentum remained in Trojan territory as Troy won five of the six singles matches. Hsieh started singles competition with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six, followed by a win from one-seeded Sanae Ohta at 6-4, 6-0 to give Troy a 3-0 lead.
The match was clinched by Xue who delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win on court three. With the game already in the bag for the Trojans, freshman Matea Mihaljevic and senior Nancy Karaky added to the point total with 6-4, 6-4 and 5-7, 6-0, 10-4 respective wins, giving the Trojans six total points on the day.
Troy will close out regular season play as it travels to Atlanta to face Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State in neutral territory on Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8.
