TROY, Alabama- Troy women's tennis team (5-10) swept the competition as the Trojans defeated the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (3-7) 7-0 on Senior Day at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

The match got off to a hot start with a clean sweep on the doubles courts. Freshmen Pei Ju Hseih and Maria Casas Blas picked up the first win, a smooth 6-1 victory on court three. Senior duos Efriliya Herlina and Jiayuan Xue, as well as Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky earned 6-2 and 6-1 victories to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead heading into single play.

Karaky and Hsieh earned the first two singles wins defeating Sharre Smith and Alyssa Williams 6-0, 6-0 on courts three and five. Matea Mihaljevic followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory on court four.

Ohta delivered a big 6-1, 6-0 win as the one-seed against Beatriz Cerezo as the Trojans took the 5-0 lead in the match. Casas Blas and Xue wrapped up the match, both taking 6-0, 6-1 wins on courts six and two.

The Trojans will wrap up home play on Tuesday as they play host to Alabama State before traveling to Atlanta to finish Sun Belt play against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.
