GAME NOTES
TROY, Alabama- Troy softball (18-14, 4-5 SBC) will continue conference play as it hits the road and makes the short trip to Atlanta to face the Georgia State Panthers on Friday and Saturday, March 30-31. Friday's game is set for 4 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader will be at 12 and 2. All times are central.
Troy is coming off a win against No. 21 Louisiana. The Trojans dropped in the first two game of the series, an 11 inning loss in game one and a one-run loss in game two, but were able to bounce back behind great pitching and defensive efforts to prevent the sweep and hand the Ragin' Cajuns just their second conference loss of the season.
The Trojans look to improve on their 4-5 Sun Belt record behind a top-10 nationally ranked defense and strong offensive performances from Katie Webb and Logan Calhoun. Webb leads the team with .380 at the plate, eight doubles, four home runs and 25 RBI, while Webb and Calhoun are tied at the top with 38 hits each. Calhoun's 29 runs scored is both a team and conference-high.
Annie Willis leads Troy's pitching staff with an impressive 1.71 ERA. She and Peyton Glover are tied with 59 strikeouts.
The Panthers enter the weekend following a win against Georgia Tech, but a conference-series loss to South Alabama. Seniors Ivie Drake and Megan Litumbe have been the offensive powerhouses for the Panthers this season, accounting for over half of Georgia State's home runs with six each. In the circle, Emily Soles leads with 3.12 ERA while Kynsley Jennings has thrown a team-high 62 strikeouts.
