Final Results
EATONTON, Georgia – Despite carding 15 birdies, the Troy men's golf team could not overcome some big numbers in Tuesday's final round of the Linger Longer Invitational as the Trojans slipped into 14th place overall.
The Trojans finished ninth overall in the field with 49 birdies over the three rounds led by 13 from Connor Futrell – the ninth most by an individual – and 12 from Dean Martin.
Martin paced the Trojans with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday as he carded four birdies and avoided a big number to finish in a tie for 45th place overall. Futrell dropped in five birdies on the day and made the turn at even but took a quad on the back nine to shoot 5-over for the day – he placed 52nd overall.
Calum Masters added four birdies en route to shooting a 3-over and tying for 53rd place overall. Troy's leader after the first two rounds, Mac Murphy, slipped into a tie for 53rd with Masters after shooting 9-over on Tuesday, while Ike Alexander tied for 72nd following his 4-over in the final round.
No. 8 Alabama rallied by Georgia to claim the team title by two shots, while No. 45 Penn State, Ohio State, and No. 44 Virginia rounded out the top five.
Troy has one last tune up prior to the Sun Belt Championship as the Trojans travel to Franklin, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt on April 13-15.
