TROY, Alabama – Coming off its best performance of the season, the Troy men's golf team looks to keep the momentum going as the Trojans travel to the Great Waters Golf Course for the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday thru Monday.
Troy finished eighth at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn two weeks ago and fired its two lowest rounds of the season in the process. The Trojans shot even par in the second round of the event and then shot 3-under as a team in the final round.
Calum Masters and Connor Futrell led the charge for the Trojans as the pair each turned in a card with a 4-under 68 during the tournament; Masters also added a 2-under 70 and tied for 23rd overall. Masters leads Troy with a +2.71 score vs. par for the season, while Futrell is second with a +2.89 and a team-best four rounds under par.
Dean Martin continues to be a steady force for head coach Bart Barnes as 17 of his 18 rounds on the season have counted towards the team card to go along with his +3.50 score vs. par. Ike Alexander is close behind at +3.90 for the year, while Mac Murphy is coming off his best tournament of the season.
Troy played well in the Linger Longer last season finishing fourth behind only Baylor, Virginia and Georgia. Masters was the lone Trojan on this year's squad to play last season and he shot a pair of 72s around a 79.
