Futrell Leads Troy on Day One of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Playing on his home course, Tallahassee native Connor Futrell fired a 3-over 147 to lead Troy in the opening two rounds of the Seminole Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Golden Eagle Country Club; Troy is in 12th place overall.
A freshman, Futrell carded one birdie in the opening round en route to a round of even par and followed with another birdie in the second round and finished with a 3-over 75. He is tied for 33rd place overall and just three shots off a group tied for 21st.
Dean Martin is close behind one shot back of Futrell after firing rounds of 76 and 72 on Saturday with a birdie in each round; he is tied for 40th place. Calum Masters made the turn in the second round at 3-under and finished with a 1-over 73 after shooting 9-over in the opening round to sit in a tie for 58th place with teammate Ike Alexander. Alexander shot 4-over in the first round with four birdies and a 6-over in the afternoon session with two birdies. Jake Tiffin rounded out the field for Troy tied for 68th place at 13-over.
Host Florida State holds an 8-shot lead over Jacksonville heading into Sunday's final round. James Madison, Arkansas State and Cincinnati round out the top five.
Troy will play the final round alongside Western Kentucky and Winthrop; the opening paring will hit the course beginning at 8:23 a.m. (CT).
