Men's Golf Wraps Day One of Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Troy opened its spring season on the links Saturday with two rounds at the Gator Invitational on the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Ike Alexander paced the Trojans with a 10-over 150 and Troy is in 16th place heading into Sunday's final round.
Alexander opened with a 7-over in the first round before rebounding with a pair of birdies in the afternoon session to shoot 3-over; he is in 76th place overall. Jake Tiffin turned in the best round of the day for the Trojans as he carded four birdies en route to an even 70 in the opening 18 holes; he followed with an 81 on the second trip and is tied for 77th place.
No. 5 Vanderbilt holds a 1-shot lead over No. 6 Florida for the team title. The field features five teams ranked in the top 32 and three in the top 14.
Calum Masters and Dean Martin are tied for 80th place at 12-over par heading into Sunday's final round, while Fannar Ingi Steingrimmson is in 90th place at 22-over par.
Troy will open Sunday's final round at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on the back nine; the Trojans will be playing with the field's individual competitors.
