Troy Faces Tennessee State in Midday Tilt

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team host Tennessee State in a midday tilt on Friday in Trojan Arena.

The Trojans (1-1) are coming off a 72-52 win over Samford on Monday. Troy out-rebounded the Bulldogs 50-34 and forced 19 turnovers en route to Chanda Rigby's 100thwin as the program's head coach.

Senior Sky'Lynn Holmes posted her sixth career double-double leading all players with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Rivers turned in 11 points, the 27thtime she's scored in double figures in the last 34 games.

Tennessee State (0-2) struggled in the fourth quarter falling to Alabama A&M, 67-57, on Tuesday. Taylor Roberts led the Tigers with 16 points, while Lauren Elliott added 15. The game was tied heading into the final quarter, but Alabama A&M held Tennessee State scoreless through five and a half minutes and was outscored 17-7 over the course of the final 10 minutes.

In the last meeting between the teams, Troy forced a program record 48 turnovers and registered 25 steals – second-most in school history – on its way to a 95-66 win in Nashville last season.

Tennessee State dropped its second consecutive game to open the season after falling to Alabama A&M, 67-57, on Tuesday. Friday will mark the third straight road contest for TSU.

After two games, sophomore Taylor Roberts is leading the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game. Redshirt senior Lauren Elliott is also averaging double figures with 12.5 points per outing while sophomore Cebria Outlow is pulling down a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game.
