Women’s Hoops Takes on West Florida in Exhibition

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team will take the court for the first time in the 2018-19 season as the Trojans host West Florida in an exhibition on Thursday in Trojan Arena. Admission is FREE.
After losing just three seniors, Troy returns 83 percent of its offensive output from 2017-18. Leading the way are All-Sun Belt selections Amber Rivers (13.9 ppg) and Kayla Robinson (13.1). The Trojans led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring for the sixth consecutive season averaging 81.9 points per game.
Head coach Chanda Rigby enters her seventh season with 99 wins as a Trojan. The Franklinton, La., native won her 500thcareer game (high school and junior college included) last year with a 130-50 win over Montevallo.
Senior Sky'Lynn Holmes returns after being named Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. The Tyler Junior College product finished four in the league averaging 8.4 rebounds per game and posted five double-doubles. Holmes Recorded 21 boards (9 off, 12 def) against Louisiana on Feb. 22, one shy of tying the program's Division I record of 22 set by Caitlyn Ramirez in 2017.
