Track and Field Returns to Mobile for Jaguar Classic

Meet Information
TROY, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field will travel to Mobile to compete in South Alabama's Jaguar Classic Friday and Saturday.

The Trojans will look to build off momentum gained from dominating performances in the last meet, the Jaguar Open. Overall, eight different events were won by Troy and there were 38 top-five finishes.

Following a successful outdoor opener, Troy looks to improve upon their performances after putting in a solid week of training over spring break. The Trojans will be returning to South Alabama for this contest that will be taking place Friday and Saturday.

"We are looking forward to another strong performance at South Alabama," Troy head coach Marc Davis said. "We had a great week of practice without distraction, so I am hoping that can get everyone recharged and refocused on the task at hand. We had a good showing at South two weeks ago without many of our key contributors to the team. We are looking forward to seeing how we have progressed."

PLAYERS TO WATCHÂ
Riley Schwietz is set to compete in five events this weekend including the long jump, high jump, 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, and the 4x400-meter relay.

Niata Alexander is opening up this weekend in the 400-meter dash and will be looking to improve on the success she had at the Sun Belt Championship.Â
Â
John Webb, winner of the 600-meter run at the Jaguar Opener, will aim to repeat this effort in the 800-meter this weekend.

Michael Alvernaz, competing in the hammer throw, will attempt to improve upon his second place finish at the Jaguar Opener.

Alexis Garret will open up her outdoor season in the 100-meter hurdles, hoping to continue her success from the indoor Sun Belt Championships.

Zach Douglas, outdoor Sun Belt Conference Champion in the shot put last season, will be opening up in the shot put and look to improve his second place finish from last weekend in the discus throw.

Tiarra Bailey, Troy's indoor 800-meter dash record holder, runs her first outdoor 800-meter of the season this weekend, looking to continue her success from this past indoor season.Â

The Men's 4x100-meter relay will also be looking to improve on their success of the Jaguar Opener. This team will include: Ryan Jackson, Corey Bonner, Juvon Treasure, and Tyree Reed
