Outdoor Track and Field Solid at Jaguar Classic

Final Results
MOBILE, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field completed competition at South Alabama's Jaguar Classic in Mobile Saturday.Â
Â
In the second outdoor meet of the season, the Trojans faced the challenge head on with another successful effort. Numerous athletes set an array of personal records across the board.

MALE PERFORMER OF THE MEET
• Corey Bonner: Ran a personal best 48.28-second time for the victory in the 400-meter dash. Added a strong leg in the 4x400-meter relay and won the 4x100-meter relay.
Â
Bonner's performance was followed up by Brackin Stewart, who captured second in the 3000-meter run with a personal record of 8:54.19.

The men's field team was led by defending Sun Belt shot put champion, Zach Douglas, as he threw a 17.57-meter toss to open up his outdoor shot put season with a decisive victory. Titus Sizemore had another high jump victory with a 2.01-meter jump and Connor Brookman improved his personal best javelin throw to 55.49 meters – which was good enough for second.

FEMALE PERFORMER OF THE MEET
• Niata Alexander: Won the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 54.25. Won the 4x400-meter relay.

Helga Volgyi and Corina Cox both earned their second consecutive first place finish in the hammer and discus throws, respectively – Volgyi with a 54.68-meter toss and Cox throwing 51.16 meters. Indiya Summerville took first with a 14.26-meter throw in the shot put.

On the track for the women, Alexis Garrett set a personal record with time of 14.53 in the 100-meter hurdles and Sydney Wright won the 200-meter dash with a 24.62-second time.

The Trojans' relay teams also saw success – finishing first in the 4x100 on the men's side, alongside 4x100m and 4x400m victories by the women.Â

"I was very pleased with the results from this weekend's meet," Troy head coach Marc Davis. "Our kids were very competitive across the board and I was happy with how they responded to some tough situations. Some kids stepped up today for the first time, and we need those efforts to improve. The energy was great having both teams competing together."

The outdoor season continues Friday, March 24, at the Samford Invite in Birmingham.
