TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball travels to face off with Little Rock in a three game series to open up conference play this weekend at Gary Hogan Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. for the series finale on Sunday.
Troy (9-6) enters their first conference series of the season after taking three of the four-game set with Hofstra last weekend. The only loss came in the first leg of a doubleheader last Saturday.
Trevor Davis comes in to the series leading the team in batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage – .429, .629 and .535 respectively. Freshman Drew Frederic has now hit safely in seven games in a row – the Trojans' third player to have at least a six-game hitting streak this season. After driving in nine last weekend, Justin Friend leads the team with 14 RBIs.
Daren Osby (3-1, 2.74) will once again take the mound for the Trojans in the series opener on Friday. In his last appearance, Osby struck out six around three hits and earned the win while shutting out Hofstra in 6.1 innings of work.
Troy head coach Mark Smartt will turn to seniors to close out the weekend – Austin Crook (2-0, 1.32) on Saturday and Houston Mabray (1-0, 2.70) on Sunday.
Little Rock (7-10) has dropped four of its last five, including a 12-3 loss to rival Central Arkansas in a midweek matchup this past Tuesday. Little Rock swept a three-game series over Troy last year at Gary Hogan Field.
