Troy Women’s Hoops Turns Attention to Middle Tennessee

TROY, Alabama – Troy last visited the Murphy Center in on Feb. 10, 2013, head coach Chanda Rigby's first year on the job. Middle Tennessee was 18-5 overall and 13-1 in Sun Belt play, while the Trojans hobbled in at 4-18, 1-12 in the league. Troy's 74-70 overtime victory that day went down as one of the biggest upsets in Sun Belt history.
Fast forward five seasons and the teams are more evenly matched. Troy enters Thursday's contest in Murfreesboro as back-to-back Sun Belt champions, 5-2 overall and No. 65 in the latest RPI rankings, while MT is 5-3 and eying its 15th consecutive 20-win season.
The Trojans come into the game riding high after a 130-50 win over Montevallo on Saturday and as the nation's top scoring offense with 94.0 points per contest. However, Troy will have a tougher time finding baskets against the Blue Raiders, who are ranked 18th in the NCAA allowing just 54.4 points per game.
