Troy Indoor Completes Competition at Vulcan Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Highlighted by Hakim Montgomery's 6.66 time in the 60-meter dash, the Trojan indoor team completed competition at the Vulcan Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Saturday.

Montgomery's 6.66 time was good for first place at the meet and first place in the nation at the time. The time is currently the third best time in the 60-meter dash. Montgomery qualified for the finals with a 6.71 time, which was also the best time.

"We had many good performances today, highlighted by Hakim's extraordinary performance in the 60m dash," March Davis said. "We had many finalists today, and if we are going to continue to be successful, we have to continue to step up and qualify individuals for finals week after week to score points. The kids are starting to believe in themselves and the process. In order to do well in anything, you have to believe in what you do, and these athletes are starting to really understand that."
Garrison Floyd and Myles Charley both made the finals in the long jump competition. Floyd ended with a 6.60 meter jump and Charley finished with a 6.89 meter jump. Floyd also made the finals in the 60 meter hurdles with an 8.37 qualifying time. Newcomer Casimir Tawaiah also made the finals in the 60 meter hurdles with an 8.51 time.

Niata Alexander finished second in the 400 meter dash with a 57.00 time, while Bradley Dixon came in fourth place in the mile run.

Isaac Jennings made finals in triple jump after having a 14.53 meter jump.

Gemma Finch finished the 800 meter run with a 2:17.64 time, which is a new personal record. Finch finished sixth in the 800 meter run, the best of any Trojan in the event. Daniel Glick placed third in the finals of the 3,000 meter run with a 8:48.57, a new personal record.

Briyana Carter made the finals in the 60 meter dash competition with a personal record time of 7.83. Caleb Brown finished fourth in the weight throw competition with a 16.61 meter toss, which is a new personal record.
